Five overlays, out of the box

📋 Relative

Proximity list centered on your car — drivers ahead and behind at a glance.

  • Gap to player (seconds / laps)
  • Closing rate (s/lap) — green when you're gaining, red when you're losing ground
  • Current position
  • Position gained/lost vs. starting grid
  • iRating and Safety Rating
  • Estimated iRating delta based on current order
  • Side indicator: amber chevrons flank your number when a car is alongside left or right
  • Pit-aware: switches to position view with a PIT badge when you're stopped

🎛 Gauges

Full-width instrument bar for the bottom of your screen.

  • RPM bar with zone-colored fill (cyan → green → yellow → red) — readable in peripheral vision
  • Bar flashes red ↔ fuchsia at the shift point
  • Throttle and brake trace
  • Gear, speed (MPH), lap delta to PB
  • Fuel level
  • TC indicator — dial level + active flash
  • ABS indicator — dial level + active flash

Pit Strategy

Fuel and tire data to help you nail your stop window.

  • Current fuel and lap-by-lap consumption rate
  • Laps remaining on current fuel
  • Stint-scoped tire-deg trend — last lap vs. the rolling average of the prior 3 stint laps
  • Secondary "vs stint best" delta so you know how off-peak you're running
  • Out-laps and in-laps filtered automatically — wear numbers stay honest
  • Estimated "pit by lap" based on fuel window

🌡 Tire Temps

Four-corner temperature display with heat-mapped zones per tire.

  • Inner, middle, outer zones per corner
  • Cold → hot color gradient
  • Live surface temps; falls back to carcass temps

📡 Radar

Spatial awareness in close traffic — cars around you mapped to nearby slots.

  • Side-edge highlights when a car is alongside left or right
  • Player-relative gap strip for cars just ahead and behind
  • Suppressed automatically in pit lane
  • Opt-in — enable per session type in Settings → Radar
⚠️ Items marked depend on car support — RaceLayer auto-hides them when the active car doesn't expose that data. No manual configuration needed.

Everything you'd want
🚀
Launch on startup Optional Windows login item — RaceLayer sits in the tray ready to go whenever you load iRacing.
🎯
Draggable layout mode Press a shortcut to unlock all overlays, drag them wherever you want, then lock back in. Positions saved per monitor configuration.
⚙️
Per-session-type visibility Configure each overlay and element independently for practice, qualifying, and race sessions.
⌨️
Configurable shortcuts Remap the layout-mode and settings shortcuts to any key combo you want from the Settings panel.
👀
Preview mode Preview and configure overlays with simulated data — no iRacing session required. Choose practice, qualifying, or race data.
🔄
In-app updates Check for, download, and install new versions directly from the Settings panel — no manual download needed.
No performance overhead Reads from iRacing's shared memory — no injection. Overlays are hidden entirely when iRacing isn't running.
🏅
Safety Rating badges Color-coded letter badges (red → blue) in the Relative overlay for instant at-a-glance Safety Rating reads.
🅿️
Pit-aware overlays Overlays detect when you're in pit and adapt automatically — Relative switches to leaderboard-position view, tire-deg analysis ignores out-laps and in-laps so wear numbers stay honest.
📈
Stint-scoped pace tracking Pit Strategy compares your last lap to the rolling average of the previous 3 in-stint laps so you can see at a glance whether your pace is improving or fading, with a secondary delta to the stint's fastest lap.
🙈
Hides in menus Overlays disappear when you're in the garage, get-in-car screen, replay viewer, or spectator mode — and reappear automatically the moment you're back in your cockpit.
